I am excited to announce that my latest worship music project is set for release, digitally, on Friday, December 13, 2023.
In “The Author Of My Story,” Rob Reed introduces some new worship songs with the themes of church community, Christ identity, thankfulness, dependence on Christ, perseverance in Christ, and the importance of the body of Christ over the buildings made for Christ.
“Take the Crumbs” is based on Matthew 15:21-28 and the Syrophoenician woman of great faith who pleads with Jesus for healing for her daughter.
“Perfect Beauty” has John 10:10 at the foundation (thief comes to kill and destroy, but Jesus comes to give life and give it in full) and praises and thanks Jesus for his salvific work on the cross. A song for Good Friday.
“Author of My Story” describes the realization of where we went wrong in our lives before Jesus and that when we tell our testimony of how Jesus changed us, HE must always be the primary focus.
“Church” was written prophetically just before the pandemic to remind us that the church was never the building but has always been the brothers and sisters believing in Christ.
“Christ’s Identity” describes the failures of the church in doing God’s work where we focus on the things of this world that so separate us from Him rather than spiritual things. The solution is to remember that no matter the circumstance, God is sovereign and will always provide just what we need in furtherance of His beautiful Gospel.
“He’s Victorious” has all of the emotion of Habakkuk, Job, Jonah, Ezekiel or Jeremiah in the worst of their trials. Despite things not going our way, we know that the righteous will live by faith… so even in suffering, we will continue to rejoice in our hope of a better future. We know how the story ends! Johnny Cash style!
“Thank You, God, For Saving Me” is a cover of the Chris Tomlin/Phil Wickham song thanking God for His perfect work for the salvation of all who believe!
“More My Silence” closes the album with a prayer that Jesus help us to control our tongue and steer it so that we use it for the power to edify rather than destroy. In the end, the revelation is that less is more. “Less of me and more my silence just might lead a soul to the cross.”
