Thanks to my personal, professional photographer (i.e., my wife), we have a good number of photos for my upcoming worship CD, “The Start Of A New Life.” I’m not sure which one will work for the cover, so I’m opening it up to you to help me decide. Vote once, and post your reason why […]

Jeremy Camp’s “Overcome”

Jeremy Camp’s “Overcome”

Originally written by the Desperation Band, Jeremy does a wonderful job on this song. The Holy Spirit (along with fellow worship leader TC at LIFEhouse) led me to this song to be played this week, as my Pastor was teaching on the subject of accolades and accomplishment, where we oftentimes forget to primarily give thanks […]

New worship song: Light of Life

New worship song: Light of Life

Demo of a new worship song… tested it out at church last weekend, and I was happy to hear that it really helped someone in the congregation cope with a personal struggle. The song has been somewhat of a personal anthem during this Lenten season. The song is based on Psalms 55 and 56.

Still in the studio…

This is my record producer, drummer, friend, and all around good guy, Nick Karvon, trying to show guitarist Lance Fooks how to play a particular part. Pay no mind to the fact that Nick cannot play the guitar.

Re-recording “Lyrics of My Heart” (aka “Making a CD and doing it right”)

As some of you may know, I am involved with a music library where I write two-minute music “cues” that get played at various outlets, including on television. This offer came to me because of my wonderful friendship and relationship with my friend Lance Fooks. We became acquainted because of our love of God and […]

“Show Me” by Audrey Assad

When I was ten or so, my parents registered me for piano lessons because one of my friends was doing it. It was interesting for six weeks, until the teacher – a 60 something who wore his hair long, but because he wore glasses, he was less hip and more Ben Franklin – took away […]

Congratulations to RahabtheJerichonite for winning the Shema Yisrael contest!

Last month, I announced a video contest, where the winner would receive a $50 gift card for making a video of my “Shema Yisrael” song off my new worship record, Lyrics of My Heart. This was the winning entry: RahabTheJerichonite

“Grrrrr! Why does every Christian song seem to follow the same chord progression with different words?”

At Praise and Worship Forums, I read a post from a fellow Christian songwriter complaining about how it seems that many of the songs that he hears on Christian radio have a similar chord progression and feel (think: Hillsong). My response: One of the best lessons I have learned in my songwriting in the last […]

How God Speaks

How God Speaks

I was in a recent church small group that asked the question: “how do you hear God?” I suggested that I have heard God in my subconscience and, also, while reading the Word… where Scripture would seem to be answering a life situation at the right time when I needed it. But, today, I experienced […]

In May, 2005, Rob was a secular, Jewish, thirty-something, Los Angeles, personal injury attorney whose idea of getting up early on a Sunday was getting up for the third quarter of the first televised, NFL games.

Thirsting on the idea of playing in a band for the first time in a decade, Rob finally accepted his neighbor's request to get up at seven-in-the-morning on Sundays in order to participate.

Eleven months later, his world was turned upside down by Jesus. Instantly, he began leading songs on the worship team and was the worship leader from 2010-2022.

Rob is now the worship leader at Calvary Chapel Malibu. He released his fifth album “The Author of My Story” on December 15, 2023, available on all of your favorite streaming platforms… and he is preparing to launch a new Christian teaching podcast called “Christ Supremacist.”
